Haryanvi rapper held for drunken driving, Mercedes seized

Haryanvi rapper Rahul Fazilpuria was on Sunday held for drunken driving on MG Road and his Mercedes with a temporary number plate seized by Gurugram Police due to improper vehicle documents.

The incident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday at around 1:30 am.

According to police, the singer quarrelled with the cops of not being drunk and even displayed an old challan slip that was unpaid by him. In the heated argument that continued for more than a half an hour, Fazilpuria kept on changing his stance in order to not get penalised.

He first blamed of a defect in alcoholmeter device but then began pestering the police officials to conduct a test to detect the alcohol limits.

Being repeatedly nagged, the cops conducted the alcoholmeter test on the singer on more than three occasions and each time the singer was found to be drunk.

Not willing to admit his mistake, the singer further claimed that his vehicle did not smell of alcohol but a perfume that was sprayed by his colleagues. However, he conceded that one of his accomplices was drunk.

Fazilpuria was held after a massive anti-drinking drive that has been initiated by the Gurugram Police on the MG Road that has witnessed a number of crime incidents in the past few weeks. "To ensure the safety and security of the visitors we have deployed both male and female police officials at MG Road.

"We are checking suspicious vehicles and taking action against drunk drivers. We have also told the pub owners that they must not encourage underage drinking," said Deepak Saharan DCP (East) Gurugram.
