Weekly Yoga classes for all on offer at DU

Delhi University is all set to offer a three-month certificate course on 'Yoga and Meditation' from this year. It will start as a part-time course and can be pursued by completing hundred hours.

The course will begin from July 1 and interested candidates can download the application online and submit it at Gandhi Bhawan on or before June 29.

"The certificate course is absolutely free and any candidate can apply for this training session. During this certificate programme, the centre has included theory and practical portions as well," said Anita Sharma, Director, Gandhi Bhavan, Delhi University.

Sharma added that the course was proposed as many students and faculty members undergo heavy stress and Yoga is the best way to eradicate it.

Applicants will need to submit identity proofs and a medical certificate.

The weekly course will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, between 3 pm and 5 pm.

For further details, one can contact the Gandhi Bhavan office, located at 32, Chhatra Marg, University of Delhi.

Gandhi Bhawan works as an institute under the University, dedicated to the study of the works of Mahatma Gandhi. The centre has organised several initiatives to propagate the ideas of Gandhian values and practices.

Yoga gained immense popularity after United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day.

In addition to traditional Yoga institutions, many government and private universities provide regular and distance courses on Yogic Science.
