16-year-old stabbed to death in train over seat issue, one held

Returning from Eid shopping turned fatal for a 16-year-old who was ruthless stabbed to death by a gang of 15-20 men in a feud over seats in a moving train near Ballabhgarh in Haryana.

Also, the inhuman incident injured the deceased's brothers and friends.

The four boys were returning after completing their Eid shopping from Delhi's Sadar Bazar on Thursday evening.

The victims have alleged that racist comments were used by the attackers and they were made hostage inside the train. "The other passengers chose to watch the fight," the boys said.

The four victims, identified as Junaid, Hashim, Moin and Mohsin boarded the Delhi- Mathura EMU train from Delhi.

They were started playing Ludo inside the compartment.

After the train reached Okhla, a group of 15- 20 men entered the coach and asked these boys to vacate the seats.

"I gave my seat to one of the older men but they kept insisting that my brothers should also get up to which we resisted. It was then when we were abused and racist slurs were passed against us. They called us traitors and even our 'topi' was snatched," said Hashim.

Following this, the four victims tried to get down at Faridabad on realising that the situation was turning uglier but was held

hostage by the assailants and was unable to de-board the train.

Helpless, these boys then called their brother Shakir and two others at Ballabhgarh but the assailants did not let them get down.
Shakir then along with two other men boarded the moving train to save his brothers.

"Some men held us while one of them started stabbing Shakir with a knife. I was also stabbed two times and later they stabbed my brother Junaid multiple times.

At Asawati Railway station the attackers ran from the opposite direction. We got down and called an ambulance," recalled Hashim.

Junaid was rushed to civil hospital in Palwal where the doctors declared him brought dead. Shakir is undergoing treatment at AIIMS.

"There were many people in the coach but none came up to help my son. They called them 'Mulla' and stabbed them," said Jalaluddin, Junaid's father.

The police have registered a case under sections 323,334, 302 /34 of IPC and have arrested one of the accused. The search for the remaining is still on.
