A mother-son duo was found injured under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday morning in their residence in Bhalswa Dairy village.
75-year-old Naryani Devi, and 23-year-old Anup were found with severe injuries by their neighbour who had come to invite the family for a ceremony at around 5.40 am, said police. Devi's family consisted of her two sons, their wives, and children.
Kusum grew suspicious as no one opened the door despite several attempts. Following this, she entered the room in which Devi and Anup were sleeping, when she saw them lying with severe injuries. Devi had a sharp cut on her throat whereas Anup was found with injuries in the abdomen area.
Kusum's family took them to a private hospital where it was revealed that they were drugged. On the hospital's statement, police were informed and a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) was registered against unidentified persons and the investigation was taken up.
"We are investigating the matter and will interrogate the entire family as it's a very unusual case, where the whole family was drugged and two of them were found injured," said a senior officer. mpost
