Abu Salem's aide who shot wife, arrested

An aide of gangster Abu Salem wanted in several cases, including murder, attempt to murder and extortion has been arrested from East Delhi on Thursday night.


Jaan Usman Khan alias Reenu, who is in his 30s has a long list of arrests in Delhi and Mumbai, was nabbed last night from an area near Sanjay Jheel.

Acting on a secret information, the special staff team of East district police laid a trap near Sanjay Jheel Park in Pandav Nagar and on the instance of an informer, Jaan Usman was apprehended in a swift operation. One improvised pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession.

Jaan Usman disclosed in an interrogation that he had gone to Mumbai in 1996 where he came in contact of Waseem, a sharp shooter of Abu Salem gang. Waseem was accused in the murder of Gulshan Kumar (Owner of T-Series Cassette Co & a film producer) who introduced him to Abu Salem and he joined his gang.

Thereafter, Abu Salem introduced him to one Aftab Bhatki, who was running an FICN racket from Dubai and Karachi. Jaan Usman also joined him in circulating FICN in India through Nepal and Bangladesh route but was arrested in Delhi in an FICN case in 2000.

"After getting released from jail, he moved to Mumbai and started extorting money in Bollywood on the directions of Abu Salem. Later, he was arrested for an extortion bid on film distributor Anil Thadani," said DCP East Ombir Singh.

On June 3, due to strained relations with his wife, he along with his associates, fired on his wife and accordingly a case was registered against him at Janak Puri police station in Delhi.
After this incident, he went to Nepal and wanted to get help from gangster friend Chakre Milan for harbouring but as Milan was arrested in May 2017 and Nepal police were cracking down the whole gang, hence he did not feel safe there, so again decided to come back to Delhi.
