Sniffer dog squad to be relocated to Pushp Vihar

The sniffer dog squad of Delhi Police, housed in Model Town, will soon get a new home.

23 dogs of the Delhi Police's sniffer squad will soon be shifted to Pushp Vihar in Saket, along with their handlers.

The police force has a total of around 70 sniffer dogs, 23 of which are housed in Model town.

"The dogs are being shifted as the Pushp Vihar Center would be more equipped with the requisite facilities," said a senior police officer.

The dogs would be easy to be deployed in South Delhi, in case of any mishap or possible bomb threats in the national Capital. The dogs are usually deployed to sniff and scan all areas before visits by VIPs and VVIPs.

The dog squad had recently inducted 19 more dogs from the Indian Army. The new members are also being trained in different skills so that they could be used effectively in case of contingencies
