Anjali Rathour was shot dead at Shatabdi Rail Vihar society in Noida’s Sector 62 on Wednesday morning by her college mate.

The main suspect in the murder of a 23-years-old techie in Noida has moved an application to surrender himself in the district and sessions court Surajpur, Greater Noida, said police.

Anjali was shot dead at Shatabdi Rail Vihar society in Noida's Sector 62 on Wednesday morning.

Ashvini Yadav, the suspected killer friend of Anjali has filed a surrender application in the court. The accused has accepted that he murdered the woman and the police are now seeking the remand to investigate the murder.

"We received information from the court about the surrender application. We have already questioned his family about his whereabouts and have conducted searches at the suspect's possible hideouts in Delhi and Etawah but could not find him. We are now seeking his police remand to investigate the murder and to bring out the reason as to why he murdered the woman," said Arun Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police, Noida.

Talking about the police investigations in the case, Singh said, "Investigations revealed that, Yadav made his last call at 6:30 am and the call duration was merely 34 seconds. In the call, it is presumed that the accused had asked her to meet him on the ground floor after which he killed her. We have also scrutinised the mobile locations of the victim's accused friend which was last recorded near the society of the victim at around 7 am on Wednesday".

"Soon after the incident, police teams were formed to conduct the search operations. A cop visited a mobile shop in Lajpat Nagar which had issued a SIM card to Ashvani but the shopkeeper said that Ashvani had worked there as an executive for six months but he had no idea about Ashvani's present whereabouts. His mobile phone has been switched off since the incident," added Singh.

Anjali, a trainee engineer with a mobile phone manufacturing Lava company in Sector 63, was shot dead in the parking lot of her housing society in Shatabdi Rail Vihar Apartment in Sector 62 on Wednesday morning.

Ashvani was suspected to be the prime accused in the case as the call details of the victim revealed that he called her twice in the morning, that too before the murder. Ashvani was her classmate in college.

The CCTV footage in which the whole incident was captured showed the criminal fleeing from the spot after killing her.

Anjali was seen running away to save her life when the criminal chased him and shot a bullet at her head. She died on the spot.

Even after getting such a crucial lead in the case, the accused remained far away from police reach until he filed an application to surrender before the court.
