Compartment students likely to miss first three cut-offs

Most Class XII students here passed the CBSE final exams with flying colours, with many crossing the 95 percent threshold.

However, there is a section of students who failed in one or more subjects or have forwarded their results to the Board for verification of marks.

With Delhi University's first cutoff list likely to come out on June 20,these students now fear missing out on at least three cut-off lists. Their rechecked results would likely be released after the third cut-off .

Ashutosh, who had failed Chemistry,has to reappear for his compartment exam. "I believe I will clear the paper. But there is confusion regarding the online registration process for those appearing for compartment paper". University officials claimed that during the registration process,a results awaited option is provided to students.

Earlier, the University used to give admission to students with compartment, assuming that they would clear the compartment exams. However, as per a recent court verdict, students now must furnish results of compartment subjects aft er the cut-offs are released in order to secure admission.

"Aspirants can still apply for DU.They will, however, have to get their final results before the cut-off s. If they clear the admissions on the basis of merit and if a seat available, they can get admission," said Gurpreet Tuteja,deputy dean student's welfare.CBSE, meanwhile, has done away with rechecking of papers and now candidates can only apply for recounting of marks.

Shrishti, who got 83.5 per cent,believes she can get an additional 15 marks on her Economics and Accounts papers.

Her father Rakesh had applied for verification during his school days and got a 20 per cent increase in his marks. He was angry at the CBSE for the delay in his recount of marks.
