Garbage segregation: Two categories of dustbins, new app on anvil

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has started a campaign which will inculcate good sanitation habits among the residents who will now be putting segregated garbage in two different dustbins.
The decision to promote sanitary habits will be continued till June 5 which is also observed as World Environment Day. The Mayor, Kamaljeet Sehrawat stated that the SDMC has been undertaking the largest public awareness campaign on cleanliness.

"The Corporation has taken steps regarding segregation of garbage. Large sized hoardings have also been installed in all the wards to enable the residents to put their signatures. This will go a long way in overcoming difficulties coming in the way of sanitation work and the residents will also be able to contact sanitation employees immediately," she said.

According to the Mayor, there is a need to launch a separate Swacch Map Mobile App in every ward to ensure smooth functioning of the sanitation work. "This will go a long way in overcoming difficulties and the residents will also be able to contact sanitation employees immediately," she added.

The Mayor launched the first such App in ward no 38 – Dwarka B. She also mentioned that similar App will soon be launched in every ward.

"The councilors and officers have already administered pledge to the residents for segregation of garbage in 45 wards. In addition to this a number of banners and hoardings are being installed to publicise the relevance of green and blue dustbins," added the Mayor.

Besides this, SDMC Mayor on Tuesday also launched a Swacch map mobile app in Dwarka B (ward no 38). She also said that such an app would be launched in all the wards under SDMC jurisdiction to ensure smooth functioning of sanitation work.
