Wife conspired with 'tantrik' lover to kill husband, held

Cases of men murdering their wives for an illicit relationship has been a common trend but now several cases are coming to light where the story is just the opposite. In a recent such case, a 38-year-old woman conspired with her partner to kill her husband.

In this incident reported in Defence Colony, a woman was arrested by Delhi police for murdering her husband after following the telephonic instructions of her lover who happens to be a 'tantrik'.

The murder was planned meticulously by the duo but the post-mortem report ruined their plot.

After the death of her husband Nathuni (54), on May 7, his wife, Aruna, cried fake in front of the investigators to mislead them and also calmly performed his last rites.

The police believed that the woman was in shock and hence did not bother her for statements. They waited for the post-mortem report of Nathuni who worked as a gardener in AIIMS.

However, this medical report spilled the beans with the mention of the cause of death as 'Asphyxia due to strangulation'. Following this, the cops registered a murder case and started the investigation.

Initially, they focused on the married life of the deceased and it was revealed that Nathuni had a second marriage. His relation with Aruna was troubled and the two often fought over trivial issues. This investigative lead led the cops to suspect Aruna's role after which she was closely monitored.

"During the investigation, we found that she was using a separate mobile which she initially hid from the investigators. It was also seen that she was talking with someone late night when her husband was murdered," said DCP South Ishwar Singh.

When confronted Aruna broke down and revealed that she was not in good terms with Nathuni and hence conspired with Sanjeev who was a tantrik. She met Sanjeev in a family function in Bihar and decided to eliminate her husband after she developed intimacy with him. Sanjeev provided her with sleeping pills which she mixed in her husband's food and later strangulated him with a 'gamcha'. The entire incident was remotely controlled by Sanjeev over the telephone.

"We have arrested the woman and are looking for the co-accused who is absconding," said Additional DCP Chinmoy Biswal.
