Family paid for Hassan's 'sins'

Five members of BSP leader Munawwar Hassan's family were butchered by his close aide Sahib Khan alias Bunty who was vying for his property worth several crores.

When Hassan was languishing in jail, Bunty used to help his family. Hassan got out of jail after his friend filed for his parole application.

After this, Hassan said, "I have done some bad things in my life. It is my time to repent for my sins". But little did he know that he has to pay such a heavy amount.

"Hassan was a criminal who had a dozen criminal cases against him. But his family was innocent. We still cannot comprehend why his entire family was butchered," said a senior police official. The cops questioned Bunty and his associates in gruelling interrogation sessions thinking that he would finally give them a reason.

Munawwar Hassan, had been involved in criminal activities since he was a teenager, claimed police. The first case against him was registered in 1989 in Deoband (Saharanpur) on charges of kidnapping. Following this, Hassan never looked back as he went on to stick his hand in the land grabbing racket in Burari.

After grabbing around a dozen properties, all of them disputed, Hassan found himself involved in several assault and arms act cases.

"Seven years ago, Hassan met Bunty, through Bunty's father. Bunty's father was involved in the welding business. Hassan and Bunty made contact and eventually became friends. Bunty never had a single criminal case against him," said DCP (North) Jatin Narwal.

Bunty roped in one of his friend Deepak, in orchestrating the murders. Deepak, who ran a chemist shop, was enticed by the property share that Bunty promised him.
Bunty who would never leave Hassan's side was caught after the police grew suspicious.

"His face changed when he was asked about his absence. They were close and we did not believe his alibi," Narwal added.
