Gangster wanted for over 11 murders held

The crime branch of Gurugram Police on Thursday remanded Sandeep, a dreaded gangster, wanted for more than eleven murder cases in Haryana.

A Special Investigation Team was formed by Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar to arrest the gangster for the murder of property dealer Bharat Bhushan who was gunned down in March this year.

Besides Sandeep, police were also successful in capturing four of his accomplices, identified as Arvind, Naresh, Surender and Ashwani, from a farmhouse in Hissar, who were also involved in Bhushan's murder.

They have also recovered two country-made revolvers, 30 live cartridges and a Maruti Swift car from the criminals.

Eluding the Haryana Police for more than nine years, Sandeep (43) had reward money of rupees one lakh placed over him.

Hailing from Sonepat district, Sandeep started committing major crimes since the year 2000 when he murdered two persons. However, he was soon arrested.

His arrest did not deter him from his criminal activities as following an argument, Sandeep killed a fellow inmate by slitting his throat within the premises of Sonepat Jail.

In 2008, Sandeep escaped from Sonepat after parole was granted. In Gurugram, Sandeep collaborated with Binder Gujjar gang to eliminate their enemies. Besides the murder of Bharat Bhushan, Sandeep was also charged with the murder of businessman Raju Sethi who was gunned down in November 2015.

"A major success has been achieved by the city police by the capture of these gangsters. Through the inquiry, our team will investigate about their sources that helped them carry out major crimes in the city," said DCP Sumit Kuhar (Crime).
