DDA assures water supply, transport facility near new flats in Rohini, Narela

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has formulated plans to ensure water supply and better transportation in the newly constructed flats at Narela and Rohini, with Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) assuring full cooperation.
"We admit that there is the problem of transportation and water supply at the flats of Narela and Rohini. To deal with the issues, we sought help from the DTC and DJB, and they have assured to help us," said a senior official of DDA.
He explained that as the two location are on the outskirts, they are poorly connected with the rest of Delhi.
"We have urged DTC to make some routes through these places and to set up bus stops," he added.
The DJB, meanwhile, had committed to ensure water supply in all areas where it is lacking in the next six months.
The official further said that DDA also has plans to approach Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to plan a route through these places.
"Metro is a big plan, so after monitoring response from the people we will proceed on this matter," said the official, who remained anonymous.
The flats are spread across Rohini, Dwarka, Narela, Vasant Kunj, Jasola, Pitampura, Paschim Vihar and Siraspur. According to the reports, except for Narela and Rohini, other places have proper connectivity and adequate water supply.
DDA received around 20,000 applications for its new housing scheme, for which the last date for submitting applications is September 11.
The officials said that, significantly, this year, takers for flats at the outskirts of Delhi were higher. However, he admitted that the reason for this trend was because of the lower cost.
The 2017 Housing Scheme, which offers 12,000 flats for four income categories, was launched on June 30. The four categories of houses are HIG (High Income Group) with 87 flats ranging from Rs 53.52 lakh to Rs 126.81 lakh; MIG (Middle Income Group) with 404 flats ranging from Rs 31.32 lakh to Rs 93.95 lakh; 11,197 LIG/one-bed room flats ranging from Rs 14.50 lakh to Rs 30.30 lakh; and 384 Janta flats ranging from Rs 7.07 lakh to Rs 12.76 lakh.
