Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal on Wednesday visited a four-year-old girl at Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital, who was raped brutally by a 30-year-old school van driver, who used to pick up and drop up the minor girl to and from school. Shockingly, her rapist was not only married but also had daughters
The minor girl, who is stated to be in critical condition, belongs to a financially weak family living in Baba Haridas Nagar. Outraged at the incident, Maliwal highlighted how lack of action by authorities made not only women but even infants and minor vulnerable to sexual crimes.
She reiterated her demand for setting a high-level committee that includes the Union Home Minister, Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister, Police Commissioner and the DCW chief to devise measures towards security of women and minors in Delhi.
