DCPCR orders probe

NEW DELHI: Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has initiated inquiry into the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl by one of her classmates in a Dwarka based school.
The Commission has summoned the manager, principal and two concerned teachers of the school.
DCPCR member Jyoti Duhan Rathee, issuing the summons to the school management, said, "This Commission is in receipt of a complaint regarding the sexual assault of a minor in your school during school hours. Considering the seriousness of the matter, this Commission hereby issues notices in your name for in person appearance before this Commission on Monday, i.e.27.11.2017 at 10 am. You are also directed to carry along both teachers, aaya and the relevant people concerning with this particular case."
"Non-compliance of this directive will be viewed very seriously and you will be held in defiance of the Commission," the summons added.
DCPCR is empowered to conduct inquiry on receipt of complaints, as well as taking notice of matters suo motu for inquiry.
As per the complaint received by the Commission, the incident happened during school hours inside the school premises. The victim's parent blamed 'negligence' of the part of the teacher and other school authorities for the incident.
DCPCR also has all powers of a Civil Court, including but not limited to summoning an individual and enforce the attendance in case of non-appearance before the Commission, examine under oath, requiring anyone to produce any document before it and issuing summons.
