Criminals fire at cops in Vasant Kunj

New Delhi: In a sensational incident, two criminals when challenged by a constable and a head constable opened fire injuring the constable on his left shoulder in Vasant Kunj of Delhi.
However, the assailants managed to flee after the shootout and are still absconding.
The constable has been admitted at AIIMS and is said to be out of danger.
The incident happened on Sunday evening when head constable Subhash and constable Satbeer were on evening patrolling in Masoodpur village. At around 6.20 pm, they found two suspicious persons roaming and asked them to stop. Instead of stopping, one of them started running and head constable Subash chased him. Constable Satbir caught the other one from behind. Suddenly he pulled out a country-made pistol and fired on left shoulder of constable Satbeer and managed to get the grip loose and ran away. The bullet pierced from shoulder of the constable. On hearing the gunshot sound, head constable Subhash came back and informed the police station.
"He is out of danger. A case under Sections 186/353/307/34 of IPC, 27 Arms Act has been registerd at Vasant Kunj (North) police. Teams are formed to arrest the accused at the earliest," said a senior police officer.
