'Criminal with 33 henoius cases murdered Yogesh in road rage'

New Delhi: "Jitni teri umar nahi hai usse zyada cases hain mujh par" -- when the heavily built middle-aged man warned 21-year-old Yogesh outside a shop in Mayur Vihar after an altercation over parking, little did Yogesh know that he has accidentally messed up with a hardened criminal on December 10. Siddhant had 33 criminal cases registered against him including under the Gangster Act in Uttar Pradesh. Siddhant shot twice at Yogesh's chest and he collapsed immediately. The doctors declared him brought dead.

"Siddhant is a criminal with over 30 previous involvements and has also been booked under the Gangster Act in UP. He is now working as a property dealer in Ghaziabad and lives with his family. Both his brothers also have previous criminal records. He originally belongs to Subzi Mandi in Delhi where his father worked as a goldsmith," said Pankaj Kumar, DCP East.

The police said that they had vital clues after Siddhant along with his accomplice Pramod shot dead Yogesh, a resident of Chilla village. Yogesh had come to 24x7 Departmental Store in Acharya Niketan Market with two of his friends after attending a birthday party. While they were sitting, an i20 car with two men Siddhant and Pramod pulled up next to them which resulted in an argument.

Siddhant lost cool when during the course of the argument Yogesh picked up an iron rod from the nearby construction site and smashed the side window of the i20 car along with his two friends. He immediately opened fire and fired multiple rounds at Yogesh. He was rushed to LBS hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

According to the police, the CCTV cameras captured the footage of the accused and they soon formed teams to identify them. The ease with which the accused opened fire made the cops suspicious that the accused might have a criminal record. When the records were checked, it turned out to be that Siddhant, a hardcore criminal who was jailed on numerous occasions for snatching, receiving snatched goods and other heinous cases as well including gangster Act in UP.
