Criminal carrying Rs 10,000 reward nabbed in Noida

Noida: A wanted criminal carrying a bounty of Rs 10,000 was arrested after an encounter with local police late Thursday night.
The accused, Khushi Mohammad, a resident of Ghaziabad's Bhojpur area, had been at large after he allegedly shot at a man while trying to rob him in Noida's Sector-68 in January.
Officials said that he was shot twice in the foot during the encounter, while an accomplice of his managed to flee into the night.
The arrest was made by a police team of Noida Phase-3 during police checking near Parthla village, around 11.30 pm on Thursday.
"While routine vehicular checking drive, the police team signaled the two travelling on a motorcycle to stop. Instead of stopping, they opened fire on police and tried to run away towards FNG road.
"In counter firing by police, one of the criminals sustained bullet injuries in the leg, who was admitted to the hospital, while the other is at large and police are conducting search operations to nab him," said Rajeev Kumar Singh, circle officer, Noida. Officials said that Mohammad confessed to his involvement in the shooting in Sector-68.
"During questioning, it came to light that he and his friend used to rob people, after luring them to a secluded place to sell items that they used to post on OLX" added Singh.
