Criminal carrying bounty of Rs 25K held

Ghaziabad: A dreaded criminal carrying reward of Rs 25, 000 on his head has been arrested by Ghaziabad police on Saturday night. Police said that the accused was wanted in several incidents of loot and robbery.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Ravi, native of Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh. He was wanted in a recent burglary case at a house in Loni area of Ghaziabad.

As per a senior police officer, police received a complaint filed by a victim that three armed assailants allegedly barged into their house on the evening of February 7 and robbed Rs 20 lakhs cash, jewelleries, ATM cards.

Police team acted upon the complaint and arrested the two accused in the case while teams were searching for the third accused at various suspected hideouts

"Since the incident was reported to us, police teams were conducting raids at various suspected locations to nab the third accused into the case. On Saturday night, police acted on a tip-off and arrested the accused from Pregladgarhi red light in Loni area."

"The accused confessed to have committed the robbery of February 7 along with his two accomplices, Neeraj and Arvind, who have been already arrested and sent to jail," said Shailendra Pratap Singh, Station House officer of Loni police station.

The officer further said that police have recovered Rs 20 lakhs as cash that was robbed from the house, jewelleries, ATM cards and mobile phones from the possession of accused while he has been sent to jail after producing before the court.
