COVID-19 testing abysmally low in Ggm

Gurugram: Gurugram health department has drawn flak over COVID-19 testing being abysmally low. This is despite the fact that Gurugram shares border with Delhi that has seen over 2,000 positive cases of COVID-19.

Less than three weeks ago, on an average less than 50 samples used to be collected. It is important to note that despite five private lab facilities and three government facilities, the Gurugram health department has not been able to meet its target of taking 500 samples daily on an average.

The largest number of samples that have been collected till date in Gurugram has been 303 that too have been taken only once.

Among more reasons that has left the officials red faced, the Gurugram health department is not being able to meet its target of taking 200 samples per day on an average. In this also the number of testing in private labs continues to see a decline by the day.

Even within Haryana, Gurugram is only contributing to less than 25 per cent of the total tested samples. This is despite the fact that it is the largest district in the state in terms of population.

The latest controversy of well-known private labs conducting wrong tests in Ambala and Faridabad has also lowered the credibility for private labs. The process of conducting tests in government labs continues to be long. The health officials were conducting tests only on those patients that showed symptoms.
