Cops to scan persons who met escaped prisoner while in jail

New Delhi: A day after 40-year-old undertrial prisoner escaped from the police custody with help of his associates in Central Delhi, city police will be scanning all the records of people who met the accused when he was lodged in jail.
Police sources told Millennium Post that they have been questioning those suspended personnel who claimed that they have done everything to stop him but they were taken by surprise that the accused threw chili powder on them and fled the spot.
"They told us that they were fired upon and escaped," a senior police officer told this correspondent said.
Sources said they are scanning the details with whom the accused had met in the jail.
"We are scanning the records of past few months… there is the possibility that someone from outside who met the accused had hatched the plan …it is subject to investigation," sources added.
The close relatives of the accused will be questioned in this regard. "Several teams had been formed to nab the accused," police said.
The accused was identified as Sandeep alias Sanjay alias Dhillu, a native of Jasore Khedi, Bahadurgarh, Haryana.
He was convicted in a murder case and was lodged in Mandoli jail.
The convict visited the OPD of Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences for treatment on February 9, and was advised to visit again on Monday.
Police claimed at 11:20 am on Monday when the undertrial prisoner, along with police guard, was coming out of the hospital after consulting a doctor, his associates threw chili powder in the eyes of police personnel and managed to free Sanjay from their custody.
The police party fired four rounds, but they managed to escape. The personnel escorting Sandeep have been suspended. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is on.
