Cops identify body half eaten by animals, arrest murderers

New Delhi: Animals ate half of the body including the face of a 25-year-old man making the job of the police officials tough for identification. The body was found at Sabzi mandi area of north Delhi on August 7.
However, meticulous efforts by the investigative officers succeeded in recognising the deceased with the help of local intelligence. Later, the cops identified the assaulters and arrested three of them who murdered the one, Anup, after they were involved into a scuffle.
On August 7 , the north Delhi police received a call that a half eaten body was lying at the Sabzi Mandi area and soon a team of police officers dispatched to visit the spot. The cops noticed that the body was naked and its stomach and face were eaten by animals. This made the identification of the person tough and the cops had to rely on local intelligence for getting clue.
The efforts of the police team soon bore fruits and the body was recognised as that of Anup who resided in the area some four years ago. The investigation further revealed that he was friends with some boys in the area and the needle of suspicion moved towards them.
"Our investigation revealed that he had a fight with three men in the area who were also his friends. As we zeroed in on that group of men, they confessed to have committed the crime to take revenge from Anup," said Jatin Narwal, DCP North.
The cops then arrested three identified as Mohsin, Anil and Deepak, all residents of Malka Ganj in Delhi.
The arrested accused are pickpockets in the area.
