Cops bullets dent morale of criminals

New Delhi: To tame the unruly gangs in the Capital, it seems that Delhi Police have decided not to hesitate while opening fire at the criminals in case they are challenged.

Several encounters by Special Cell has left the criminals either with a bullet injury in the legs or limbs.

The message seems clear, if the criminals dare opening fire at cops, they would get the answer in the same coin.

It seems the sudden spurt in cases of robbery and snatching has also led the specialised unit to get tough on the active criminals in the national capital just as their counterparts in Uttar Pradesh have done recently.

October itself saw at least 5 encounters by Delhi Police Special Cell in which atleast 10 criminals sustained bullet injuries either on their legs or hands.

The police has fired in self-defence in all these cases.

The recent in the list is the encounter at Wazirabad in Delhi on Tuesday night where two criminals were engaged in fierce gunbattle by the special cell. In the retaliatory fire, one of the criminals identified as Ravi sustained bullet injuries on his leg. The second accomplice was arrested unhurt.

Earlier on October 14, in two separate encounters with Special cell teams, two criminals sustained gunshot wounds on their legs.

On October 11, two criminals were injured in an encounter that broke out between Delhi Police Special Cell and the criminals, near Nizamuddin area. DCP, Special Cell said that the injured criminals are suspected to be involved in the attack on ANI journalist Joymala Bagchi.

On October 4, another notorious criminal Neeraj Bhardwaj was hit in the leg the special cell team in Delhi's Narela. He was wanted in several cases of contract killing, extortion and robbery in Delhi and Haryana.

On October 3, in a joint operation by Delhi and UP Police, three criminals were arrested after a brief exchange of fire in Meerut's TP Nagar.

Delhi Police's Special Cell team led by Inspector Shiv Kumar and supervised by ACP Attar Singh along with UP Police arrested Saddam Gauri (29) of Bindapur Delhi, Usman (33) and Dalip (19) of Meerut Uttar Pradesh.All three criminals sustained bullet injuries in their legs.

On October 1, a criminal received gunshot injury after he along with his associate opened fire at Special cell team in Shahdara area of Delhi.
