Cops' apathy adds to woes of elderly couple beaten over parking suqabble

An elderly couple were on the receiving end of insensitive treatment not only from goons but also from the cops.

After they advised four boys to park their car at the right place, the couple was beaten up by the four accused over the parking issue in ATS Village of Sector-93A, Noida on Friday morning.
Following the incident, the couple went to the local police station to register a complaint against the hooligans.

In a shocking turn of events, however, the police harassed them further. Later, two among the four accused were arrested.

"Aarti Chhibber (55) and her husband Suresh Chand Chhibber (60) were the two victims who were thrashed by the goons. Two people have been arrested by the police and a case has been registered against the accused people under Section 151 of the CrPC," said Rashid Ali, Station House Officer, Phase-2 police station, Noida.

On Friday morning, the couple found a car in their parking space and called up the owner to inform him about the wrongly parked car. The owner then told the couple to come to an isolated place. Soon, two boys from the man's family, along with their driver, first thrashed the elderly man and then his wife who tried to rescue him. The incident was captured on CCTV where the goons were clearly seen thrashing the elderly couple. A woman was seen in the video watching the entire incident. She was later identified as a family member of the accused.

Following this, the couple went to the nearest police station where they were harassed by the police. The cops reportedly had been threatened by the accused persons in order to cover their shameful act. However, after intervention by mediapersons, police registered an FIR and arrested two among the four involved.

"We have registered an FIR against all the accused. Two have been arrested by the police. We will try to show full cooperation to the victims" said Rashid Ali.

Sector-93A is a posh area of Noida and such incidents are reported being reported from such a location raises questions on the law and order situation.
