Cop hit by unidentified vehicle on Barapullah road, dies

New Delhi: The Delhi Police lost their brave heart head constable Rajpal Kasana who was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Barapullah elevated road on January 14. "Head Constable Rajpal Kasana was highly committed and hardworking cop. He was an epitome of discipline, dedication, devotion to duty and professional ethics. He was truly an asset to Delhi Police," said city police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah claimed that around 3 pm on January 14, information was received in Special Cell that an arms smuggler of Western UP would be coming from Gazipur border side and he would go to RK Puram via ISBT Sarai Kale Khan and Barapullah elevated road. "A team was constituted including Head Constable Rajpal Kasana and others. Head Constable Rajpal Kasana and Head Constable Mohit Panwar were on their motorcycle. Head Constable Rajpal Kasana spotted the suspect in a car near Sarai Kale Khan and started chasing his car with Head Constable Mohit Panwar riding his motorcycle," said Kushwah.

When they reached on the loop near Sundial of Barapullah elevated road trying to keep a discreet distance from the car of arms smuggler, a car hit their motorcycle from behind and drove off, leaving them sprawled on the road. Head Constable Rajpal Kasana fell during the collision and injured his head while falling on the road. Head Constable Mohit Panwar immediately rushed Rajpal Kasana to AIIMS Trauma Centre. The officer could not be saved and he gave up his battle for survival at 5 pm on January 19.

Rajpal Kasana, a resident of Village Sharifabad Rajpura in Ghaziabad, UP was listed in Delhi Police in the year 1998. In the year 2006, he was transferred to Special Cell. Ever since his posting, he had consistently performed to his fullest and has active contribution in busting various organized gangs, arresting dreaded criminals, many terrorists operating in India. He was also part of many encounters in which many gangsters and dreaded criminals died in an exchange of fire with police.

In his career, Rajpal Kasana got Out of Turn promotion as Head Constable in the year 2013. During his posting in Special Cell, Head Constable Rajpal played active role in busting a number of gangs of arms smuggling and recovered more than 1,050 illegal sophisticated pistols and more than 6,000 live cartridges.
