Cook found dead in Jaypee resort's restaurant

Greater Noida: A cook at the restaurant in Jaypee resort of Greater Noida was stabbed to death and his body was found lying in a pool of blood inside the restaurant kitchen on late Monday night. Police said that the death is suspicious and they are investigating the case from the angle of suicide as well as murder.

According to police, the deceased, identified as Nethial, a native of Jharkhand, had joined the restaurant just a month before. He had been working at Boomerang, the club house, inside the five-star restaurant.

Nethial's body was spotted by other workers with a meat chopping knife stabbed into his stomach. They immediately alerted the senior officials upon which they informed police.

"As the information was conveyed to us, police teams rushed to the spot and found the man lying in a pool of blood inside the kitchen. We took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem," said Amit Kishor Shrivastava, Circle Officer, Greater Noida.

"Prima facie it appears that the man has committed suicide however we are not ruling out the possibility of murder and have registered a case under relevant sections of IPC based on the complaint given by other employees of the restaurant," added Shrivastava.

Police said that the CCTV cameras installed in the kitchen do not cover the area where the body was found lying. However they have detained 10 to 15 workers of the restaurant for questioning and are investigating covering all the possible angles.

Meanwhile, a senior official of Jaypee resort said that Nethial joined his duties as helper cook on October 9 and did not involve much with other workers at the restaurant. Also he was not able to speak proper Hindi language which might have made it difficult for him to involve with other persons.
