Construction worker falls to death in Gr Noida, three booked
Greater Noida: Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Sinday booked three persons, including the chairman of Supertech builder group, for negligence which led to the death of a worker at an under construction project of the group in Greater Noida West.
The worker died on Sunday morning after he fell from a height while working at the multi-storey under construction building.
An offence was registered under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code (death caused due to negligence).
According to police, Mir Hasan, a native of Hardoi district, died in the incident while he was working as a labour at Supertech's Ecovillage-III project in Greater Noida West.
"An FIR was against the chairman of Supertech, an engineer and the construction contractor for not providing proper safety apparatus and not taking steps to ensure safety of workers at Bisrakh police station in connection with the incident," a senior police officer said.
"As we received the information, a police team reached the spot and took the body into custody, which was later handed over to the family after getting the post-mortem done," said Anil Shahi, SHO, Bisrakh police station.
"Prima facie investigation showed that the workers were not provided with proper safety equipment at the construction site. Following the complaint received, we have registered an FIR against three persons in connection with the case," he added.
Other workers at the site alleged that neither the builder, who is responsible for overseeing the construction work at his site, nor the engineer or labour contractor, provided them with security apparatus.
"The fatal incident could have been averted if proper safety equipment were provided to the workers. Neither safety belts nor safety nets, which protect a person if he accidentally falls from a height, were provided at the site" said Hammad, a worker.
Police officials said they will soon summon those held responsible for the mishap for questioning.
