Constable suspended for trying to molest six-yr-old

GRATER NOIDA: Following his attempt to molest a six-year-old girl inside a police post in the Ecotech 3 area of Greater Noida on Saturday morning, the 48-year-old constable posted with the Gautam Buddh Nagar police station was suspended from duty on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the post in-charge of Kulesara police post was sent to District Lines.
According to the police, in addition to being suspended, accused Narender Kumar was arrested on Sunday and sent to jail, while Harvir Singh, in-charge of Kulesara police outpost, was been sent to district line for carelessness.
"It was a shameful incident. The police is there to save people such people will not be entertained in police department. We assure that strictest action will be taken against the accused and a departmental enquiry has also been initiated," said Suniti, Superintendent Of Police (Rural).
Locals alleged that the constables posted at the Kulesara police post are mostly found in an inebriated state and people are afraid of approaching them to file complaints.
"We have asked the SHO and circle officers to keep a check on this while we will organise gender sensitisation and legal awareness programmes for police personnel to create a gender friendly environment in police stations considering the need to educate and sensitize the lower lever police personnel on gender and related issues including legal provisions so that people specially women do no face apathy," Suniti added.
Kumar was arrested within an hour of the incident and booked under non-bailable charges of sections 376 and 511 of the IPC.
