Constable braves bullets to nab criminal

NEW DELHI: It was around 1 PM on Wednesday, a constable from Farsh Bazaar was on patrolling in Vishwas Nagar area of Shahdara district when he noticed two criminals who were passing the area. Without wasting any time the constable rushed to catch them and after a gun battle one accused was nabbed.
Talking to Millennium Post, constable Vivek stated that they had opened fire on them but one thing was going in his mind that they have to arrest the accused as well. "A chain snatching incident took place in the area. CCTV footage was scanned and the criminals' footage was shared with the staff.
"I just saw these two men and they were the same who were involved in the incident when I told them to stop but they did not listen and started firing," said Vivek.
In retaliatory fire, one criminal got injured and was overpowered while the other person ran away. The accused was identified as 24-year-old Monu, a resident of Farukh Nagar in Indira Puram (UP) area.
Joint commissioner of police (Eastern Range) Ravindra Yadav stated that it was a brave effort and prompt action by the police officer. Such acts would motivate other staff and deter the criminals.
"The criminal injured was also involved in an encounter in January this year with UP police in Noida Sectror 71," said Ravindra Yadav.
The CCTV footage accessed by Millennium Post where it was seen that the accused were in motorcycle after seeing them constable without caring his life started to chase one of the accused who was in pillion seat whip of his pistol.
The accused tried everything to escape but the police officer makes sure that they did not flee.
During the battle, one person who was driving was injured and the other accused fled the spot.
The police official chased him but he was successful in fleeing.
