Conman involved in cheating through matrimonial sites held
New Delhi: A 27-year-old man who created fake profiles on matrimonial sites using photograph and details of a prominent personality arrested from Dehradun.
Police identified the accused as Ashish Kukreti a resident of Dehradun. The Complainant, who is working in an MNC at Gurugram filed a complaint alleged that she met the accused through a popular online matrimonial site by the name Ashok Verma (different name).
He told her that he is a businessman and his annual income is more than One Crore. He gained her trust after showing immense care towards her family.
After showing some emergency, he duped Rs. 50,000/- from her.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse stated that he had stolen photographs and other details of Sh. Ashok Verma (different name) a prominent person of society from Facebook and used them to create fake profiles on other matrimonial sites also.

He projected himself as the owner of the company and asks the girls to search his number on Google.
He had coloured a good picture of himself in front of the girl and her family. He had started communication with them telephonically and also on social media portal.
"His modus operandi was to befriend the victims and by using his communications skills succeeded in developing intimacy with them," said DCP Alphonse.
He also used chat on applications such as WhatsApp to convince his targets that he was a rich man by sending photographs of Bungalows and cars randomly as his property.
As his target deposit an amount in his account, he stops responding and communicating with them.
A joint team of police officials of Cyber Cell and Mohan Garden police station led by SI Arvind Kumar under the close supervision of ACP Sunder Singh Yadav, ACP (Ops) Vijay Singh nabbed the criminal.
