Cong, ABVP send top leaders to look after DUSU affairs

New Delhi: Taking the lesson from the constant failure in the Delhi University Student Union polls, the Congress has trained its guns for the upcoming student's elections. Moreover, the party has deputed senior leaders to micromanage the polls.
As a part of a central theme of "Take Back DU", the party is planning a mega offensive in the election. "So far, the party had left the DUSU elections to the student leaders in the campus. However, this time all details are being managed centrally," said an official.
He added, "The party has deputed senior leader Oscan Fernandes, Mukul Wasnik and Ajay Maken to micromanage the elections, in which it has not seen substantial gains in the past four years."
In proactive steps, the senior leaders have constituted a team and assigned them to interact with students across campuses, north, south and outer Delhi colleges to gauge the issues that resonate with students.
"The party has also hired a professional agency to work out creatives punches, taglines and messages." said an official.
The campaign will be run on social media. The agency has been tasked with managing WhatsApp groups and Facebook with special messaging. To counter the poll strategy of NSUI, ABVP swung into action for the DUSU election.
"ABVP is basically RSS affiliated student wing and BJP leader will stay away from the polls, but ABVP senior leader Shri Niwas, National Joint organising secretary and Vinay Bidre, National general secretary, has already joined the DUSU polls," said Saket Bahugana, National Media Convener, ABVP.
