Confusion prevails over FIR on Fortis hospital

The Gurugram police claim that at present there is name of only one senior doctor that is Dr Vikas Verma. The lack of coordination has resulted in many to question over the Haryana government's claim of taking firm action against the hospital.

Responding to the criticism, the state health minister Anil Vij again reiterated that all those staff members that were found to be responsible for abdicating their medical responsibility have been named.

"The state government is not taking this case lying down and we have asked the authorities to take strict action against the management that has been indicted in the report. It may be possible that as all names in the FIR does not fill in, the entire list may not have been incorporated, "said the health minister.

On Sunday an FIR was filed at the Sushant Lok police station under section 304-part -2 of the Indian Penal Code. Few days before the FIR, the health minister had asserted that the hospital had direct role in the death of its Adhya.

Stating facts from the inquiry report he mentioned that the hospital had removed the ventilator, did not provide the oxygen cylinder and the ambulance after the family decided to shift her to another hospital.

It was also found that the hospital had made exorbitant profits by not providing the generic medicines.

There was huge outrage over the incident after the hospital charged Rs15.79 lakhs in amount for fifteen days treatment of Adhya Singh, who had dengue shock syndrome. After the death of their daughter, the aggrieved father further highlighted that how he was harassed by the authorities in obtaining the death certificate for his kin.

In order to raise awareness of the rampant corruption in the private healthcare system, Jayant Singh has taken to social media actively. He has requested people to mention of the trouble faced by them during the treatment of their close ones in such hospitals.
