'Conducted 472 vigilance enquiries last year'

New Delhi: In the year 2018, the Delhi Police has conducted 472 vigilance enquiries against police personnel. According to the investigating agency, as many as 433 police personnel placed under suspension for various commissions and omissions.

According to Delhi Police data, out of 472 vigilance enquiries, allegations in 107 vigilance enquiries proved against 272 police officials. As many as 793 departmental enquiries (DEs) initiated against 1008 police personnel. "Around 743 DEs disposed of last year," data added.

Last year, disciplinary action taken against 2,069 police personnel including 92 inspectors, 425 sub-inspectors, 361 assistant sub-inspectors, 417 head constables, 773 constables and one MTS. Around 23 police personnel including two sub-inspectors and 17 constables were either dismissed, removed or terminated. Under Article 311 (2) (b) 23 policemen including three inspectors dismissed.

"15 personnel removed under Rule 11 (1)," data added.

As many as 254 personnel including 131 constables (CT) and 47 head constables faced forfeiture of service whereas withholding of increment punishment given to 62 police personnel.

"Three personnel faced a reduction in pay and rank," added data. Censure punishment given to 1,690 policemen involving 579 CT and 82 inspectors. According to investigating agency, there is complete zero-tolerance against corruption and aberrations.

Bi-monthly performance assessment of SHOs done by city police. "There is tasking of division and beat staff to keep surveillance of criminal's resident and operating in their area," police said adding that prompt action taken on dereliction in crime control, surveillance over known criminals, and integrity complaints.

Motivation and Morale:

In 2018, out of turn promotion given to 81 personnel whereas 72 cops were given Asadharan Karya Puraskar. As many as 3891 CT promoted to HC whereas 1531 became ASI from HC.

"1075 ASI promoted to SI whereas 167 inspectors turned into ACP," data added.
