CM inaugurates project for replacement of old water line in Kirari

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister and the Chairman of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday inaugurated the work of replacement of existing old water line at Mubarakpur road in Kirari Assembly Constituency.

There are a total of 104 unauthorized colonies in Kirari Assembly constituency which are cleared by the Urban Development department for taking up developmental works.

Water supply network is laid in all 104 unauthorized colonies. But out of these, in 85 unauthorized colonies the existing peripheral water line has outlived its life and is leaking frequently causing contamination in the command area as well as it is found inadequate to carry designed discharge. Therefore, it was decided to replace the existing old 600 mm dia PSC peripheral water line by 100 mm dia - 600mm dia DI/MS water line from Kirari Underground Reservoir to Mubarakpur Village.

The total cost of the project inaugurated by the CM on Sunday is worth Rs 10.07 crore and would be completed in twelve months time. Once completed the project will benefit a population of 2.50 lakh with improved water supply in the area.

The inauguration was also attended by the Rajya Sabha MP Shushil Gupta, MLA Kirari Rituraj along with CEO DJB and other officials.
