CM flags off 200 sewer cleaning machines
NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that Delhi is the first State, where we have developed this device and to put an end the inhuman practice of sanitation workers entering sewers for cleaning. After flagging off a fleet of 200 sewer cleaning machines, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, addressing mammoth gathering said that his government is translating the dreams of Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar in improving and ameliorating the social and economic condition of the scheduled castes and bring them in the main stream of the nation. Delhi Jal Board had organised a function at Dr Ambedkar Stadium on Thursday .
Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) will provide them to the experienced and skilled manual scavengers making them 'Sani entrepreneurs. Launching the sewer cleaning machines with applied technology, Arvind Kejriwal said that it is a historic day for Delhi to start this initiatives and ensuring safety and dignity of the human life.
He said that the manual scavengers had to enter in the sewage and clean the sewerage system by putting their precious lives in danger. "Our Government gave a serious thought to this and planned to ensure cleaning the sewers through machines and The Delhi Jal Board and its officers developed a technology. It could be able to provide this technology — Small Sewer Cleaning vehicles fitted with machines to the 200 people, who are already engaged in sewer cleaning work and who have experience of sewer cleaning," he added.
Arvind Kejriwal, congratulating these 'Sani entrepreneurs' said that Delhi has become the 1st State in introducing the in implementing and ensuring the introduction of sewer cleaning machines for cleaning sewer in the narrow lanes in Delhi. Delhi Minster of SC-ST Welfare Rajendra Pal Gautam said that Delhi Government is committed to work for the enlistment of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in a better and effective manner. He said that Government is preparing a number of scheme meant for the Welfare of SC and ST.
Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev said that Delhi is a bunch of varied flowers with specialties, as people from all religions castes and creed are living together and everyone has the right to live with
dignity and honour. It is
really creditable and remarkable that Delhi Government has made 200 people as entrepreneurs in their own field of skill and with this the Delhi has become 1st State to introduce this applied technology. He said that in our great nation the Scavengers are regarded as 'Unsung Heros".
The CEO, Delhi Jal Board, Anil Kumar Singh said that now with the introduction of Small Sewage Cleaning Machine Vehicles, Delhi Jal Board will be able to ensure cleaning of sewage in narrow lanes in Delhi comfortable through these Machines, which have been fitted with necessary equipments ensuring hydraulic, Jetting, Grabbing and Roding work.
