NEW DELHI: Healthcare institutions in the national Capital, as well as in the country, should enjoy more autonomy, asserted Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday.
"Institutes of excellence should be allowed to handle their micromanagement, while the government should provide overall direction by setting the deliverables," the Chief Minister stated.
Kejriwal was addressing doctors at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences. He also drew attention towards the fact that the income gaps between the rich, the middle class and poor patients, as well as their access to healthcare is growing, and this dichotomy will have to be addressed to maintain balance in the society.
"The government has observed with pride that ILBS does not differentiate between rich and poor, irrespective of paying capacity and that such institutes can bridge the divide," said Kejriwal.
