Cleanliness drive at Kalindi Kunj Ghat

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik inaugurated the Swachh Yamuna Abhiyan at Kalindi Kunj Ghat on Thursday morning. A Plog run was also organised to make people aware of healthy and clean living. More than 1,500 participants also took a pledge for Swachh Bharat.

Special cleanliness drive — 'Cleanathon' was organised on the banks of the river Yamuna. More than 400 participants including students, Yuva, and police recruits divided in 4 teams participated in the cleanliness drive and collected the plastics & waste from the Kalindi Kunj Ghat at the river bank. R.S. Krishnia, Special CP Law and Order (South) felicitated the best team of the 'Cleanathon'.

CP stated that 'swachhta' should not be a matter of one day but it should be a habit of the individuals on daily life. He directed his officials that the practice of cleanliness should be followed as a responsibility.

Chief Guest Amulya Patnaik flagged off the plogging run. Plogging is a combination of walking and jogging and picking up litter scattered. More than 1,200 participants comprising students of Jamia Milia University, school children, local youth, YUVA members, general public and police recruits participated in the run. During the run, participants while jogging picked up the plastic & other waste along the way promoting the essence of Swasth (Fitness) and Swachhta (Cleanliness) in life.
