Child sold for Rs 45K rescued, 3 arrested

New Delhi: Delhi Police rescued two-and-half-a-year-old child from the clutches of human traffickers in the Rohini district area. Police claimed that the minor was sold for Rs 45,000.
According to the police, the accused were identified as Sonia (Name changed) (28), Rajni (Name changed) aged (43) and Saurabh Goel (27).
On February 23, a complaint was received by the Bawana police station that the boy has gone missing. A case under section 363 of IPC was registered and several police teams were constituted to trace the child and to nab the accused.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said that during the analysis of CCTV footage of the nearby area, it was found that the boy was kidnapped by some women. During investigation and search, the woman was identified as Sonia (name changed). She was found absconding from her house.
"Through electronic surveillance, the police got to know that Sonia was changing her location frequently. Raids were conducted and ultimately she was arrested from Anand Vihar, ISBT," said the DCP.
Police claimed that during interrogation, she disclosed that she had kidnapped the boy and sold him to another woman namely Rajni (name changed) for Rs 45,000.
Police further claimed that Rs 42,000 was recovered from Sonia (name changed). Rajni and her nephew Saurabh were also arrested in this case and the kidnapped boy was rescued from their possession.
Later, Rajni disclosed that she had bought the boy for her sister Santosh whose son had died in a fire in 2015. Both Rajni and her nephew Saurabh hatched a conspiracy to buy the child for their relative Santosh without revealing the facts to her.
