Challenges aplenty before GMDA to develop Ggn

Gurugram: The Haryana government's aim of turning Gurugram into an iconic city received a boost after Union Minister for Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri accepted the proposal of considering Gurugram as a 'Smart City'. Challenges, however, are aplenty towards this goal.
To begin with, Gurugram continues to face challenges of adequate power and water supply and modes of transportation.
This, despite the fact that the state government, in coordination with the Centre, has launched several projects to improve infrastructure.
The first official meet of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), eight months after it was formally set up was held on January 31.
Haryana Chief Minister Manorhar Lal Khattar interacted with not only senior public officials in charge of the city, but also major business leaders, NGO's and officials of multinational companies.
The major emphasis was on improving the city's infrastructure projects.
