Cello tape incident: Education department begins investigation

Gurugram: The district education department on Monday began their investigation in the matter where a teacher in the private school reportedly put a cello tape on the mouth of two LKG students.

She did so to keep the students quiet. The shocking incident occurred on October 6 but came to be known a month later after the security official shot the video and circulated the video online.

On Monday the senior officials of the education department visited the school to find out the action initiated by the school authorities. Even though there are reports that the school first suspended and then sacked the teacher, there are reports that the teacher is still coming to school.

This is not for the first time that shocking incidents have been reported from Gurugram private schools. In February this year, a class-VII student threatened his teacher of raping her and her daughter. At present, the case is being investigated by the state commission for protection of child rights (SCPCR). Taking strict action against the indiscipline of one of its students, a prominent private school in Gurugram has suspended a class VII student. Adding to shock and shame, a class VIII student of the same school sent a written post to his teacher requesting for a candlelight dinner and sex with her.

The issue of misconduct was also raised by former governor Kaptan Singh Solanki who gave examples of how today's youth are leading to extreme aggression, anger and indiscipline. The governor highlighted the incidents in Haryana where a class XI student shot dead his principal in Yamuna Nagar and the case where a 16-year-old has been charge sheeted by CBI for the murder of a 7-year-old.
