Celebratory firing: Former Bihar MLA, driver taken to UP

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Saturday has taken former ex-MLA Raju Singh and driver Hari Singh to Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh for further investigation and also to recover further evidence in the case. It is been suspected that the blood-stained clothes were allegedly dumped there while they were on the run after a celebratory firing incident in which a woman was killed.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar claimed that they were taken to Kushi Nagar and after investigation, they came back.

On Saturday, police arrested the younger brother of Raju Singh for allegedly tampering with and destroying evidence. Raju Singh's wife Renu Singh and Raminder Singh, who worked for the leader, were arrested earlier also for allegedly destroying evidence.

The 42-year-old woman, Archana Gupta died on Thursday after she was allegedly shot at by ex-JD(U) MLA Raju Singh during celebratory firing at New Year's Eve party. In his complaint to the police, Archana Gupta's husband had said that they were at the farmhouse on Monday night to celebrate the New Year along with friends and around midnight, two-three rounds were fired by Raju Singh. Immediately, he noticed that his wife had fallen down and was bleeding.

The police were informed and a medico-legal case was registered, a hospital spokesperson said. Raju Singh was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act, police said, adding that he has five other cases registered against him.
