Celebratory firing at wedding lands boy in hospital

NEW DELHI: A 15-year-old boy was severely injured after a bullet shot during celebratory firing at a marriage procession struck him at Chandni Mahal locality on Friday night. The victim Naeem, admitted to LNJP Hospital, is stated to be critical.
The incident took place in the Walled City area of Suiwallan.
The man who fired the bullet, who was a part of the wedding procession, was arrested by cops and is reportedly a local goon. Soon after the incident, the boy was rushed to hospital.
Witnesses claimed that several rounds of bullets were fired and the groom's father forcefully closed down shops in the area. "The accused has been arrested and we are interrogating him. We are also investigating whether he has any past criminal records," said a senior police officer.
This is not the first case of celebratory firing reported this year, with many similar incidents having been reported across India. In many cases, the victim's who were shot lost their lives. Most victims were onlookers on higher floors.
