CCTVs in all 581 SDMC schools to keep tight vigil

New Delhi: In order to ensure the safety of thousands of students, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to install closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) in all its 581 primary schools. The cameras will be installed at the school gate and in the gallery of the schools to keep a tight vigil, considering children safety and security. Corporation officials said the process will be completed by December this year.
"The step has been taken to fulfill our commitment towards providing foolproof security to the students. All schools under the SDMC will have CCTV cameras and that will be monitored at headquarters. It will also help us keep a check on teachers also," said an official.
The civic-body in its bid to transform children lives in its schools has taken a number of measures including turning the classroom into a smart one with a smart board, projectors, Interactive pad, Podium, UPS, speakers and other hardware and software to make the study interesting.
"Ensuring the safety of the children is a priority for us. The move will ensure averting any untoward incidents. CCTV will be installed at isolated places of schools besides gates and corridor," the official said. It was also mentioned that the agency will monitor CCTV cameras to fix the quality of primary education apart from keeping an eye on the security of children.
"A monitoring team will be constituted in every zone and the SDMC officials at the headquarters will supervise it from the control room at the Civic Centre," he said.
