CBI files chargehseet against ex-OSD of Satyendra Jain in appointment case

New Delhi: The CBI has filed a chargesheet against Dr Nikunj Aggarwal, former OSD to Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain and one Dr Anup Mohta, in connection with the case, where the former was appointed as a Senior Resident in a government hospital, allegedly without following the required procedures. Officials here said that the chargesheet against Mohta, then Director of the Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya was filed after getting clearance from the Union Health Ministry in July this year.

The CBI has alleged that Mohta appointed Aggarwal at the government hospital without announcing a vacancy for the position or a walk-in-interview.

The central agency had registered a case against both Mohta and Aggarwal in December 2016, based on a complaint from the Deputy Secretary (Vigilance) KS Meena, that outlined several irregularities in the appointment at the government hospital.

According to the complaint, Aggarwal had himself handed in an application letter for the post, hand-written on plain paper in August 2015 and was issued an appointment letter in four days without following due procedure.

In fact, the findings of the case revealed that there was no position of Senior Resident (Orthopaedic) available at the Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya and Aggarwal was brought into the hospital as part of the Faculty (Ortho), within a few days of which he was requisitioned for appointment as OSD to the Health Minister of Delhi.
