CBI arrests I-T inspector for bribe of Rs 1 lakh

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested an Inspector of Income Tax from Udyog Vihar in Gurugram for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. A case was registered under section 7 of PC Act, 1988 against Inspector, Income Tax (Audit), Income Tax Office, Vanijya Nikunj, Udyog Vihar, Phase-V in Gurugram.
According to the CBI, the accused was demanding bribe of Rs 1 lakh in respect of assessment of the Filling Station (Petrol Pump) at neighbouring Nuh district registered in the name of the complainant's son. The Income Tax Inspector had allegedly called the complainant to his office and during their meeting, the accused demanded the said bribe for not imposing additional Income Tax of Rs 10 lakh on the said firm.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1 akh. Searches are being conducted today at the premises of accused including at Mahipalpur Extension in Delhi. The arrested accused will be produced in the designated court on Wednesday.
