Caught on camera: Ggn cop abducted in broad daylight

Gurugram: In a telling statement on the law and order situation in Gurugram, a head constable in Gurugram police on Wednesday was abducted in broad daylight from a busy area of Rajiv Nagar.

The victim has been identified as Madan Lal and was deputed at Civil Lines. Such was the brazenness of the act of the abductors that the police official was abducted near his house.

According to the police, the main reason for kidnapping seems to be a personal issue of the constable.

The investigators in the case claimed that there was a fight between Madan Lal and few unidentified people in his neighbourhood after which he was kidnapped. The entire incident seems to have occurred at around 2:00 pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The police, later, were able to recover Madan. They were also able to recover the car whose registration number is HR 26BR 2727 in Sector-12.

The images of his abduction were caught in the CCTV cameras where the abductors can be seen coming in a Tata Safari car and then dragging the Gurugram police official into the car.

As of now, there have been no arrests made in the case. The police, however, claimed that they have been able to gather vital evidence in the case and soon they will be able to get hold of the culprits.

The police have suspected that there are over five to six kidnappers that may be involved in the case.

Moreover, the SUV that was used for kidnapping the police officer has been registered in Gurugram.

Headed by ACP Shamsher Singh, a team from police stations of Sector-5, Sector-14 and Civil Lines have been formed to investigate the matter.

Sketches have also been made of the kidnappers so that the police can get vital information on the whereabouts of the culprits.

"In the preliminary investigation, it has been found that there were a total of five to six people who were involved in carrying out the crime. It seems that Madan Lal had an altercation with some of the people in the neighbourhood after which he was abducted at around 2:00 pm on Wednesday. We have been able to get certain pieces of evidence in the matter and we will soon be able to get hold of the criminals," said Shamsher Singh ACP (crime), Gururgam police.

The following incident adds to the list of various situations where Gururgam police officials have been targetted violently by the citizens.

Recently, after being penalised for driving on the wrong side, a 32-year-old man tried to run over a traffic police constable in Sector-29.
