Car on reverse crushes 3-year-old to death
NEW DELHI: A three-year-old boy died after he allegedly was run over by a 25-year-old student in Delhi. The incident occurred in Nihal Vihar area on Sunday afternoon when the deceased, identified as Ahil, was going with his grandmother. It is said that the student was reversing his car after he noticed that the road has been blocked and allegedly ran over the boy, who was coming from behind, the police said.
Ahil was rushed to a hospital in Paschim Vihar where he was declared brought dead, said a senior police officer. Ahil's father runs a saloon in Nihal Vihar. The police were soon informed and the boy was rushed to the hospital. However, later he succumbed to his injuries.
Soon, the accused was identified and was arrested and a case under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered, police said. More sections could be added once the investigation is complete.
The post-mortem was conducted on Monday and the body has been handed over to the family, the police added.
On March 29, a 4-year-old boy Ajam Ansari was killed after being run over by a Maruti Ecco van in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar.
