Car mows down man in Outer Ring Road, driver nabbed

New Delhi: A 38-year-old man was killed on Saturday evening, after being hit by a car on the Outer Ring Road near Mukundpur Chowk.
Police identified the victim as Sanjeev Singh, who worked as a labourer in the city.
The accused driver Ashok Kumar has been arrested, police sources added.
The offending driver had tried to flee the spot after the mishap, but was chased and apprehended by passersby, who beat him black and blue, before setting his car on fire, said the police.
According to police, the accident took place around 8.30 pm on Saturday.
"The victim was trying to cross the road near Mukundpur Chok, when Kumar, who was coming from Burari and heading towards Mukundpur at a high speed, hit Singh," a police official told reporters on Sunday.
"The victim was flung in the air and received severe injuries. Kumar, however, did not stop and kept on driving," the official added.
However, two men on a motorcycle who were passing by the area saw the entire incident and chased Kumar.
A few metres ahead of the accident spot, they overtook him and locals passing through the area helped the duo nab Kumar. The accused was then thrashed by the public.
