Car driven by minor kills 66-year-old auto driver

New Delhi: Driven by minor, a car hit an auto rickshaw driver killing the 66-year-old driver in New Delhi area. Police claimed that inside the car there were three youngsters including driver who had received injuries during incident. According to police, the incident took place on Thursday at about 5.53 am. A PCR call was received at Police Station Barakhamba Road, New Delhi, regarding the accident.
A police team reached the spot and found one Maruti Ciaz car and one Auto Rickshaw in an accident condition. All the injured persons were rushed to hospital. The auto driver who was identified Shiv Shankar Mehto who lived in T-Huts, Mata Sundari Road, New Delhi, was declared brought dead by the doctor at RML Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma stated that the car was being driven by a 17 years old juvenile and he was accompanied by two more youngsters of 15 and 17 years. All three youngsters have also sustained injuries in the accident and are currently getting treatment at RML Hospital. According to the police, the teenager jumped a traffic signal and rammed into the auto-rickshaw at a turn between KG Marg and Tolstoy Marg.
The senior officer further claimed that the car belonged to the uncle of the juvenile. The police are investigating role of juvenile's uncle as to how the minor children were allowed to drive the car and whether he was aware about the children taking his car for a joy ride. Police claimed that they have registered a case under sections 279/337/304A at Police Station Barakhamba Road.
