Canadian national robbed of his money, valuables

New Delhi: A Canadian national was robbed by an alleged taxi driver and his associates near Mehram Nagar area in Delhi. Police said that they are close in solving the case. According to police in the night of 12/13 July 2019 at about 12.30 AM hours, one Mohammad Mehdu Ghanzanfani (Canadian national) working in Indigo Airlines arrived who was looking for Company cab which was supposed to come to him.

"He came out towards City side on the Main road near gate no two metro station near Delhi Cantt. While he was talking to the company cab driver, one person approached him who suggested him to talk to him in Hindi," said police.

Police further added that he talked to him and he requested to drop him by his taxi near his company cab by charging Rs 100. Complainant sat in the taxi. Two other people were already sitting in the taxi. After about 5 minutes crossing the Mehram Nagar signal towards City, they forcibly took his Debit card/Visa card and the PIN code of the debit card. They withdrew Rs 10,0000 from his debit card Indian Rs of 302 USD and 12000 from his wallet.

Police further added that after this they dropped him on the flyover of Mahipal Pur. In day time of 13 July, he reported the matter to domestic airport Police Station. He had read the last digits of the Taxi. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Sanjay Bhatia said that the case was registered and the investigation is in progress. "Best efforts are being made to work out the case. We will solve the case soon," said DCP IGI.
